Restraining / protective orders
Ask for filing assistance or submit a request for judicial consideration.
Before you submit
Describe the relationship, dated incidents, people needing protection and the protection requested. Civil harassment, domestic violence, workplace violence, elder/dependent adult and gun-violence requests may follow different procedures. A submission does not create an enforceable order; only a judicial decision can do so. For immediate danger call 911. Do not wait for a portal reply.
Have these details ready
- Person needing protection
- Person against whom protection is sought
- Relationship / requested order category
- Dated incidents and immediate concerns
- Safe contact instructions / information that must be protected
What happens next
- Prepare the references and facts relevant to your request.
- Submit through your verified account and follow the private request thread.
- Act only on confirmed instructions or an issued order.
Confidential, sealed, privileged and protected information may be withheld or redacted. A request does not override an access restriction.
The clerk will review the request and ask for any further information. No deadline is extended by submitting a portal request.
